THE RETURN

AKANE entered the orbital station after its systems suddenly returned online above Earth. The facility had remained silent for seventeen years.

Inside, the station recognized her identification immediately. A sealed route opened toward the central control sector, even though AKANE had never been there before.

Then an old memory record appeared on the display. It carried her unit code — and a date from seventeen years ago.
