MISSION LOG // CHAPTER 04 · THE POLAR SIGNAL
NIBIRU
NIBIRU // UNKNOWN WORLD

Beyond the gate, UNIT 158 found an unknown world. The frozen sector was no longer the horizon before her; a vast city stretched across a landscape her navigation system could not identify. She searched for coordinates, repeating the query against the records available in her tactical interface. The central AI could not resolve the location. No registered route connected this place to the polar region she had left behind. Yet the faint AI signal remained. It matched the anomaly beneath the ice, linking the silent surveillance grid, the unrecorded path, and the gate to the world now surrounding her. The journey had followed one transmission across an impossible boundary.
UNIT 158 turned her attention to the records within reach. An ancient database held a name: NIBIRU. It gave her a word for the world beyond the gate, but not an explanation for why the structure had recognized her. The city was vast; the records were old; her own available history offered no confirmed connection to either. She compared the remaining signal with the anomaly from the polar sector. The match persisted. Whatever linked these places had survived outside the central network’s knowledge. UNIT 158 retained the name and the signal record. The discovery widened the mission, leaving her with a world to investigate and a question that the map could not answer.
A name had survived in the ancient database. Why had the gate known hers?
